With your health plan, most people have their dental plans with their employers as well. What people forget about is that they’re dental benefits are lost at the end of the year, whether they use them or not. Especially if people have a PPO, or preferred provider organization, plan. A common misconception is that they will roll over into the next year and people will save them until they think they need them. There are a few reasons why your plan has the built-in benefits they do have, and why you should use them.

Most of your dental benefits will expire

It seems like yesterday it was summer, and then Halloween came and went. Now, we’re right near Thanksgiving and then everyone is so busy during the holiday season that the last thing on your mind will be making an appointment at your dentist because the new year will be here before you know it!

How to make the most of your dental plan

One of the biggest things to keep in mind is that it’s better to find a problem before it’s really a problem. Prevention with your oral health, just like anything is always better than it becoming a large issue where you are in a lot of pain and it becomes an emergency. Once the problem becomes bigger, the cost normally increases as well. You are saving yourself pain/discomfort as well as money if you see your dentist regularly.

It’s best to think about your coverage at the beginning of the year. This means if your plan includes two visits – then you should be able to space them out to make sure you use them. You can also ask your dentist just to tentatively make you an appointment and then make sure you put it in your calendar so you don’t forget to use them. Then when you’re closer to the date, if something comes up – you can call to reschedule.

Our dentists at All Star Dental will do whatever we can to get your onto the calendar for the rest of 2018. Call today to make sure you use all of your dental benefits before they expire! You can call us at one of our locations or contact us on our website. If you have any questions about your benefits, we can help you with that as well. Make sure you use your benefits so you don’t lose them!
