A dental cleaning or exam is recommended every six months. Professional cleaning can help remove plaque and tartar that you cannot remove with a toothbrush. Plus if there are any signs of decay or gum disease it can be handled and hopefully reversed before fillings or root canal procedures are needed. By going twice a year you decrease the risk of complications and dental issues. 

In situations where tooth decay has spread, you will need the decay removed. Two common procedures to handle dental decay include: 

• Dental Fillings: A dental filling is one of the most common dental procedures. When tooth decay causes a cavity, the decayed section of the tooth is removed and the remaining crater is filled with a synthetic filling designed to be durable for years.
• Root Canal: When dental decay spreads to the roots of the teeth, it can infect the pulp. Decades ago, if your tooth pulp was infected, the only solution was a tooth extraction. Now, dentists can perform a root canal to remove the decayed section of the root and fill it, just like with a dental filling.

• Dental Crowns: There are a variety of reasons you may need a dental crowns. Crowns are often used for the anchor teeth in dental bridges. They are often also implemented after a root canal procedure. In some cases, a dental crown might be needed if a filling is not viable for a tooth. • Dental Bridges: A dental bridge is a common method to replace a lost tooth. Not only can bridges help provide an aesthetic replacement for a lost tooth, but they can also prevent teeth from shifting and issues with bite alignment. We can help install a bridge and help you if you have an issue with your dental bridge.
